The Neon Party is back this month. Resident Djs Kuato and Mike Device are super psyched to welcome superstar DJ Cosmo Baker (The Rub) on the 1s and 2s. 

A master of everything from hip-hop to disco & funk to electronic music, Cosmo's unique style and spinning prowess is able to bring it all together in a cohesive, and funky manner. This Philadelphia native cut his chops alongside contemporaries such as ?uestlove and Rich Medina, and when he relocated to Brooklyn in the early ’00s he helped found the internationally known DJ / remix collective The Rub. His knowledge of music is only matched with his uncanny ability to move the crowd. Cosmo is a rare breed of DJ that bridges the gap between the legendary DJs of yesterday and the superstar DJs of today.

For our 4th installment, we look to one of our favorite producers on the electro/house end of the spectrum, DubCHI. In the short few years he has been making music, he has instantly become an integral part of the Party Guy Records family with tracks on PGR001 "Bardeenz - Messed Up Maison" and PGR003 "Future Sounds Of North America". Tech Tuesday # 3 - ETY Plugs

Tech Tuesday #2 - Serato Video-SL

The fine folks at Serato have quietly released a video plug-in for Serato. What this plug-in does, is essentially allow the user to become a VJ. Users are able to synch music videos up to songs and have total manipulation of the videos through a series of effects. The program is free to demo, but will run you around $200 for the complete unlocked version. Check out the video demo after the break.

Tech Tuesday #1 - Pioneer DJM-T1

We're going to be implementing a new section to our blog, Tech Tuesday. We'll be posting blurbs about exciting new technology in the DJ world. This week, we are highlighting the Pioneer DJM-T1. The mixer is designed specially for Traktor 2 -- It is a complete plug-&-play solution as it is a hybrid mixer, a controller, and audio interface all in the same unit. It has dedicated midi controls for sample decks and effects. The built-in USB soundcard enables the mixer to connect straight to a computer via USB. It will be out on the market in July. Wyllys and the New York Hustler Ensemble

Of course we are fans of all things in the low-end sub bass realm, but let this stand as a public service announcement --- we love the funk! At heart, like a lot of people, we encompass disco funk snobbery to the fullest. We'd like to introduce you to one of our current favorites, Wyllys and the New York Hustler Ensemble. Wyllys is the man on the turntables and his NY Hustler Ensemble entails a funky horn section made up of members of the infamous Trey Anastasio Band. Be sure to check them when they come to NYC next Friday May 13th. 

Secret Mix Series 003: Sines

Our third installment of the Secret Mix Series comes from the brilliant Sines, based out of Houston, Texas. When talking about all things experimental and future bass, this duo frequently comes into conversation as stateside innovators. Keep your eyes opened, as Party Guy Records will be releasing a Sines remix on the forthcoming "Move It" EP from Sleepyhead.

Another day, another sub-genre. This movement, however, isn't being penned by journalists, but by the artists themselves. Future Jungle is what they are calling it and it is all being spearheaded by UK DNB legend, DJ Fresh.

Digital creative Matias Najle has just released a fun, interactive software that lets users trigger the Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger vox samples in time with the backing beat. Head over here to give it a spin. This game surely brings back memories of Daft Bodies and, of course, Daft Hands.
